Custom Made Orthotics

Custom-made orthotics - Foot ankle and leg in x-ray

Custom made orthotics are prescribed to align the foot and ankle into the most anatomically efficient position.

Orthotics are not for everyone! Anatomical variations such as functional leg length inequality, flat feet (Pes Planus) and high arches (Pes Cavus) alone are not necessarily indicators of orthotics prescription. Patient history, mechanical and orthopedic examinations such as 3D gait analysis are essential factors required prior to these prescriptions.

Some symptoms of poor biomechanics can include any one of the following:

  • Localized foot, knee and hip pain
  • Bunions and hammer toes
  • Arch or heel pain

Custom made orthotics should not be utilized as the sole treatment for a specific condition. Majority of the musculoskeletal conditions, require multidimensional approach. Proper fitting shoes, load modifications, exercise therapy along side manual therapy are essential for the full resolution of symptoms.
